Umm, Wow!

Completely forgot to update with my stats from yesterday; apologies for that. That’s why I’m posting so late - I had your basic “ohmygod” thought before hitting the pillow tonight.

One word describes it all - wow!

Here are my new stats:

Weight: 310 lbs.
Weight Loss, week-over-week: 15 lbs.
Weight Loss, month: 15 lbs.
Weight Loss, total: 15 lbs.

(Sorry ’bout all of the repeating, but I’ll continue to keep track like this in the future, so those numbers will change).

When I said “wow,” I was actually repeating everyone’s reaction at the local Smart for Life office. No one could believe I lost that much weight (not even me!).

While that’s an amazing number, I know it will be smaller in coming weeks (even next week). But what a start, eh? I have to admit, I’m kinda proud of myself.

Well, off to bed now - I’ll post more on Monday or Tuesday.

By the way: As I get busier in my consulting gig and other Web-related things, I’m thinking about ending this blog’s gizmo-basedĀ focus and moving just the weight-loss stuff over to a new blog (either here or at a Web property I’m looking at buying). If you have any thoughts on this, please leave them in the Comments section. Thanks.

  1. hi there! i’m seriously considering joining the smart for life program close to my area and i’m glad to have found your blog. i would love to hear more of your updates. if you have changed your blog, please keep me posted so i can follow your progress. thanks a bunch and congrats on your weight loss!

  2. Apologies I haven’t updated in so long. I’m going to write one after the holidays (to sum up how I did), but for now let’s just say I’m almost at 30 lbs. lost.

Thanks for the note and your kind words, crinklynose; they’re always appreciated. And even though I don’t know your specific circumstances, I definitely think it is worth it for you to check out Smart for Life.

  3. hi bob, thanks for your response :o)

since it’s a sunday, i wouldn’t be able to get hold of the smart for life office until tomorrow. the thing is i used to weigh 120 lbs a year ago but i gained 25 lbs in a year (i’m 5′2″ and i usually eat healthy food but my weakness are sweets so i think all those chocolates added up to 25 lbs… in a year!!!). i’m scared because lately i’m getting high blood pressure readings whenever i go to the doctor for a checkup. i really wanted to be healthy and start everything the right way and i wanted to be able to stick with the program. smart for life sounds something i could stick to :o)

how does it work though? do you have to eat cookies the entire day or you eat regular chicken/veggie meal 3x a day and eat the cookies in between meals for snack? just curious.

thanks a bunch and really appreciate keeping us posted with your progress. your weight loss is inspiring :o)

congrats again & happy new year!

  4. Thanks for keeping in touch, crinklynose. Based on your post, I’d definitely say “go,” then (at least to talk with them).

The cookies are for meal replacement throughout the day - 6x cookies spaced out between 8 A - 6 P (or whenever). Before anyone says, “oh my God, I can’t live on that!”, I’ll tell you that I have trouble eating all 6 in a day, and I’m still a big guy in stature (but a skinny-yet-strapping one in my mind).

Then you eat a dinner of 6 oz. of lean protein and two veggies. They’ll tell you what you can and can’t eat (no meat, pork or alcohol, for example). It sounds like you know this part, though.

From what the doc at my location said about Smart for Life in general, I think your high BP will be taken care of (or at least seriously reduced) with this plan. Definitely ask at your local location, though, just to make sure. What’s that old line? “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV”? Well, I’m not only not a doctor, I don’t play one on the Internet!

  5. hi there bob,

thanks for your reply. i finally got an appointment with smart for life so later today, i’d find out what im supposed to do :o)

how are you doing with your “long term test”? is it really doable to just eat 6 cookies?

my hubby is quite skeptical if i can live with just eating 6 cookies and a small protein/veggie meal at night. it sounds crazy but i’m willing to undergo all the sacrifices. i hope you’d keep your updates so we can help or support each other to this better-health-journey of ours, one cookie at a time, heee :o)

thanks. hope to hear from you.

  6. crinklynose -

Thanks, and good to hear you went. I’ve got an announcement that I’m going to post here pretty quick, but I’ll definitely answer your questions.

First, the “long-term test” is going very well. I’m up to 35 lbs. lost. Or is that “down to” …? Anyhow…

I’ll warn ya - the first couple of days are kinda tough. But if you push through those, you’ll be fine.

Good luck, and definitely keep coming back!
